Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September 1983) is an American actress, best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. She was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of high school after her parents separated to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. They were struggling to survive when she got her first acting role in Rachel's Room's lead character. In 2002, she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murdered Martha Moxley. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost on which she was the main cast member for the first two seasons winning an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace left the show to focus on her film career. She had starred alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. The role she played was Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken 2008) in Suburban Girl as well as The Jane Austen Book Club. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) Replays of these role. Grace performed the role of Shannon once more in the show's finale and in two additional episodes. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth series of Californication. She portrays Faith as an admirer and muse to the actors. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan, she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was a teenager with small roles in several films by her father. She also worked with her brother in the 2001 popular movie Donnie Darko. She then appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win the Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the romance comedy Secretary (2002). The two films were critically acclaimed. Her fame grew for her role as Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercial films she starred in the year 2006. In the wake of her performance that was a hit as a mother who is not married on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The following year, she starred in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). She also played a musician as Frank (2014), a musician Frank (2014) and her role as the main character for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama that was released in the year of 2018. Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
